David, i'm having a few snags with transport as no one is able to give me a lift. Looks like i'm going to have to get the train up on the saturday, and stay in a hotel sat night/sun night - can you recommend a decent one that's nearby and not too overpriced?

Re: Muscles & Medals Old-School Strength Challenge
Sam,
Shame about that.
I'm at a wedding on the saturday as we could have gone for a meal and chat.
There is a B&B round the corner called Albridge Hotel. There number is (01785) 254100
73 Wolverhampton Road, Stafford, ST17 4AW
This is where quite a few of the guys have stayed before, including Steve Gardener.
Hope this helps.

I'm just glad there's no running involved in these events! Spent most of today asleep after burying myself yesterday with the Kbell run

Not sure i'm going to be able to do it, i'll make my mind up either way in the next couple of days. My SI joint has been playing up more than usual lately, even standing up at work has been painful recently. Definitely going to need to get it checked out.

Sam,
It's more important that you get your back looked at, and don't injure it anymore - I know about not heeding the warning signs in the past!
It's a small informal comp anyway.

Re: Muscles & Medals Old-School Strength Challenge
Some things are a no-no for the back. Stone lifting at the moment seems to be out of the question, as is anything where i have to lean back with weight on the chest. Funnily enough squats don't bother it in the slightest bit but it is on an off with deadlifts. It affected my one hand DL at the brits this year quite a lot - i wasn't able to fully stand up because the back 'locked' on the left side. At the moment i'm just doing exercises that don't affect it, that is, until i get enough money together to get treatment.
This comp looks really good, and the events suit me - i'll make a decision in the next day or 2. I'm thinking that the money i'd spend on a train/B@B and so on would be better spend on a chiro visit.

It'd be fun seeing you here, but yes a chiro visit would be better for you!

Re: Muscles & Medals Old-School Strength Challenge
Elton is also out of this one, he basically cant do the Zercher squat and he isn't one to just make up the numbers so would rather not compete. I have been out of training for about 5-6 weeks after picking up an injury training for the team comp but I had a session a few days ago and seem to be healed so I still intend to come and play as its nice to see everyone although I am not expecting to much from myself as obviously I have only had 1 or 2 goes at the events.

It'll be good to see you Stew. I've done no Zerchers, and no training for this, just what my a/w sessions and circuits dictate. But it'll be fun.
