diameter of log
I have found out more info about an upcoming comp. The log diameter is 30cm and its 2m long, which is a lot bigger than the width/length of my training log.
Has anyone trained with multiple diameter logs and have any experience/opinion of how the wider log effects the log pressing?
the event in question is log (push) press for time

Re: diameter of log
A wooden Log can be nasty. It can depend on where the handles are as well on a wooden log.
It's harder to get a really fast leg pop with a wider log as the weight is further away from you. Do some High Incline Bench work with a Log.

Wider and longer, all other aspects in weight being equal equates to harder. As David says the centre of gravity is further away and so the pull into the body needs to be harder. We have several metal type logs from 50-kilos to a tad under 80 and from 8 through to 15 (I think). We also have Nick McKinless's as yet still not used Log Trainer (at least I think we have ahem).
