Comment from my blog:
Andrew placed behind me at Chad's event in the summer and Jedd behind him so the above shows the same positioning. I've not yet met Dave and think he's close to my age but for comparision he must be a little off where he was before (ass kicking) because he grabbed 3rd behind 2 guys I beat. Groupings of the rest of the scoring are quite tight.
Apparently Jedd, like me, was a few inches off a new WR 2HP (255.3 or 255.5 I think) but grabbed the US record (253) and Andrew had another go, having won with 455, at 470+ on his axle record. Gripper numbers were down on the Chad Woodall event numbers (180lbs against the 205 I made). I was also kinda glad no one got close to my weaver stick record the winning weight being almost 5+ lbs less (13.5 by Andy against my 17.85lbs WR lift.... yaaaa go me LOL)
My PC was playing its usual overheating when it's warm trick so I was only able to see parts of the event via their on-line live video but it was still great seeing the lift as it happened

Re: US nationals 2009
Yep the live feed was pretty sweet! It would have been a comp for you Steve the events suit you!
Congrats to Andrew for the win and Jedd for the US record.
I heard Frank (magnus) was join first on the grippers with a 182lb gripper - especially impressive considering Frank is 18 years old.

'Heard'... you just read it 5 minutes ago ha ha. But yes very nice for an 18 year old. And yes the events would have suited an in-shape me. Based on what I think was done I'd have won grippers, placed a tied 2nd on 2HP, ditto the axle, won the weaver and placed well in the medley. Overall enough. But that's by-the-by Andrew won - well done Andy.

Re: US nationals 2009
Yes, Steve would have done very well at this Contest.
The Contest was very close between Andrew, Jedd, and I until the Medley. The biggest thing that hurt me is the medley events weren't listed before the Contest. For me, I need to work on the harder medley events a couple of times before the Contest. Of course this did not seem to bother Andrew, who improves every time I see him.
Frank of course was a very strong 18 year old. Very big and built for Powerlifting.
It was strange not having Chad Woodall at the Contest, hopefully he'll get back soon.
Overall the Contest was well ran, and Thanks to Jedd and his family who put four of us up for the weekend.

My feelings echoed yours on the medley when I heard it was in Chad's comp. But I did, as you say now, practise it with a couple of the events deliberately made harder or heavier. I never had it in my head that I'd do everything or be the fastest on it but do well enough to stay in the running. Getting 3rd in it was a BIG surprise for me.
