How to set a gripper 101
I've had quite a few people ask for me to show them how to set a gripper - there is already a few vids out there that you can learn from, but each one is a little different, so I thought I make one on how I like to set - this may help some and may not, as everyones hands are a little different. you may be able to take bits and pieces from the vid and get what you need. Hope this helps!

Should be compulsory viewing for all gripper noobs!
Well I put it to the test last night after viewing. Not in workout mode, just sat in my recliner with the cat on my knee. Tried a few reps with the T, then the #1. Felt a bit strange compared to what I normally do, but there you go.
Anyhow, time I thought to try it on the #2 which, with every vein bulging I usually get to within 2-3mm. This time, set it properly to I guess CCS and just shut the damned thing! No grunting, straining, cat still on my knee! Not only that I did it several more times as well. Sooo, I wheeled out the #3 I got for xmas and got this down below parallel under the same conditions. So what I've seen is: setting makes all the difference between closing and not closing, so learn how to do it!
Cheers, Lol

This was a really good post Paul, and corrected some mistakes I have
been making. I have sneaked up from level 8 to level 9 on the vulcan
after taking on board some of the ideas from your post.
Is this the same technique you would use to set a VHG to 20mm or is there
a different way to achieve such a narrow set?

I do the same set on the Vulcan also, its a little trickier because the Vulcan doesn't have knurling, but that's why I like the Vulcan so much ........... it has forced me to get better at my set - now when I grab a torsion spring gripper, the knurling feels like I'm cheating.

Re: How to set a gripper 101
I just got my Vulcan and I re-watched your setting video and notice a tremendous difference in using your techniques Paul - I think that with regular grippers you do get a big advantage out of the knurling which doesn't require you to set it absolutely perfectly to make a close - with the Vulcan it seems to be more important to get a good set to close it at the next level - Thanks Paul!!!
BTW David - the Vulcan is a fantastic piece of equipment!!!
