Anyone else getting a virus pop-up on the main site? Update p2, please read

Post  Elizabeth Horne on Tue Mar 03, 2009 1:36 pm

I've had it brought to my attention today that there might be a virus lurking on the main website (the home page specifically). We had something strange happen on David's computer when looking at it yesterday, which I think was to do with a Windows update gone wrong rather than a virus, but we've had an email morning saying that someone else has had their virus protection software popping up on the homepage a couple of times with an alert message.

Has anyone else had any problems? I've combed the homepage script and found nothing untoward, and my AVG service is still saying it's a-okay. Google isn't marking it as a dangerous site either, but we need to make sure.

Thanks Smile

I haven't but I do sometimes experience the "You're the 1000th winner click here" banner flashing at the top of the page if that makes any sense. I doubt I have a virus or anything because I'm running Comodo which is the daddy.

The ads at the top of the forum, are just banners because we use a free forum.

I wondered as such, but some viruses "hijack" adspace on a webpage. I had one that took someone VERY experienced 3 days to crack Evil or Very Mad

Firefox with the adblock and script blocker add-ons takes care of most stuff.

I've had a virus warning from my Norton a few times the other day, but then it stopped

I am using a work computer, which should be overflowing with antivirus software, and it all seems fine.

Ditto here. Kind of comical trying to explain to my wife why all of a sudden I went from browsing the WOG to a dating website, lol. Very Happy
