I have a large natural stone that weighs 500lb (scaled) that needs a new home.

Quite a few strongmen have tried to lift this and the only one to clear it off the ground is Kalle Lane, the Swedish strongman.

Flights to Iceland from the US are very low right now. Plus, one of the deals I've seen includes a 2-night stay at a decent hotel in the already low price of the flight. Something around $650 per person from one of three cities. It'd take us a few hundred to get to Minneapolis, MN. Then tack on the $650. But my wife and I are giving it serious thought and it helps that some relatives are wanting to help send us over too. It hinges on whether she can get the time off though because things ...

I have just been told that a comp I am entering does not allow any suits in the yoke event.

I confess to only being able to do the required 250kg with a squat suit.

Everyone says you need to do 'heavy core work'...does anyone know exactly what this is? It can't be sit ups and swiss ball....but presumably it is something more than sidebends with dumbells?

I also find the crossbar slides down my back and I end up positioning it stupidly high (at the base of my neck) to compensate. ...

After purchasing the Dinnie Ring Replica's I'm getting more and more interested in famous stones which can be lifted as a feat of strength.

It would be nice to have a stone lifting tour in a couple of years and try to lift these stones. So far I came up with the following, if you know more of them, please let me know:

Dinnie Stones:

Location: Potarch, River Dee Bridge, North East Scotland

Weight: Big Stone = 187kg and Small Stone = 146kg

I have organised a strongman comp for 24/5/09. The original ref has pulled out and I will probably be the ref now and compete as a guest.

I am happy with the timing/measuring etc but not 100% with the scoring.

If you have more than 10 lifters ....and assuming there are no tied places...do you score like this? You know, guys after 10th place all get 1 point?

Also, what happens if someone fails to 'start' an event. e.g can't lift the axle at all or can't get the yoke across the start ...
