Strongman shows/Acts

Post  David Horne on Mon Feb 09, 2009 8:55 pm

There are a few Strongman Shows/Acts on youtube. Post them here if you like them.
What makes a good one? Mmmm, I think that obviously they have to be pretty decent feats, and be legitimate, but also the show has to flow, and be interesting.

Here's Stepan Ivanov of the Cirque du Soleil.

I've never understood why this is considered a feat. I've always been able to take a puch in the gut from any man I've ever met, even if they've used a baseball bat. Admittedly I've never had a sledge or a cannonball, but the sledges look pretty low momentum and the CB could be a soft load.

In fact the CB HAS to be a soft load, cos full loads the size of cricket balls will take a foot off when rolling to a stop.

This is lucky where you live! Laughing

Come down to the Brits, and you could be the half-time act, and take punches from all. Could be a cool act!

That Dikul feat was at the end of his show which was featured on a documentary about him and his back rehab work. Interesting docu that was.

Back to that feat, crikey if anything had a gone wrong with that amount of weight! Shocked

He did some wonderful stuff with very large steel balls and kettlebells.

Pavel,
What kind of show was that?

It was interesting to see him twist the nail through the wood, but some of the other feats didn't flow well and were fiddly. The coin you could barely see what was happening, and the chain didn't look good. Also the levering of the cues was not great as the cues were supported against his forearm a long way down, and the people who were brought on lifted quite a few, and if they had better knowledge of what they were doing could have possibly done the same.

But it was interesting to watch - thanks!

This is a very flowing performance by the great Joan Rhodes.
Joan sings "Iron Girl in a Velvet Glove" while performing her strongwoman act to a stunned audience in Berlin
