David presses at Wag Bennett's gym
Can anyone help out here? I just got this email regarding some equipment from Wag Bennett's gym. Unfortunately they won't fit in my shed.
"Mark, I wondered if you had connections with regards to gyms, as we still have some gym equipment, namely 6 of the german David presses. All in good condition which Wag bought in the 80s, for aprox 10000 pounds. We need to clear the church/gym as there is a buyer on it."

Please let me know if you are interested/ know anyone and I'll pass on further details.

Re: David presses at Wag Bennett's gym
further info-
"These 'David' arm & leg presses are for sale at only 400 pounds each, bargain price, as we do need to clear Wag's gym and church. A sad time for us all. These would have been originally 4 x times that, and they are in good condition without the wear any of the other equipment had. Welcome to view at Forest Gate, E7. Buyer collects. Contact telephone number (daytime ): 0208 472 8301."

And there's more..
Just had another email-sounds like there's plenty of free weights left as well- dumbells, olympic plates etc and several benches etc which are described as badly worn but cheap. I don't have any more details, but if you call the number in the previous post you might be able to grab yourself a bargain and a piece of history to boot.

Not long before it gets scrapped!
Update on what's left-
All the Oly plates have gone, but there are enough cast iron standard plates to sink a battleship. These are a mixture of old plates (spur etc) and extremely old plates (G. GROSE /J. GROSE etc), mixture of lbs and kgs, most plates 20lb or more. In particular there are some very interesting thin plates (I'd guess around 1cm or less thick) which are smooth on both sides- could make for some very interesting pinch work. There are around 10 fixed barbells (possibly adjustable with alan keys), some have got very nice revolving sleeves, and loads of fixed dumbells, all cast iron, mostly plated and either welded or fixed with alan keys-I'd guess around 20 pairs. These range from around 90lb to around 10-15kg. There are also various bits and bobs, curling bars, tricep bars, handles, mats, not to mention the machines and benches.
I got as much as I could fit in my dad's estate for a very reasonable price and barely made a dent in what's left. Time is running out to get the gym cleared and some of this historic kit may end up going for scrap if it's not cleared soon. It's well worth the trip!
