Rolling Thunder: New Handle

Post  gripcrush on Sat Jul 18, 2009 8:01 am

Guys, I was thinking about this, after all of this talk about the increased difficulty of the new RT handles, why not hold a little friendly online contest - who can lift the most. I think my best is around the 175lb mark, achieved with a meager 7" set of hands. If we put that into an equation, that comes to 25 Pound per Inch. Let's see who score the best in regards to the Pounds per Inch system.

Only those with a new handle can play. I did 181lbs at the Chad event, but might be able to do more. Hands are 8.25-inches

I picked one of these up. I lifted 75kg+weight of the pin/handle. So i did 80kg give or take (new handle is a lot heavier). 8'' hands so 176/8 = 22psi.

It is also worth noting that these new handles hold chalk a lot better than i expected it feels similar to the watson's axle in texture. I'll be using this for high rep work mainly.

As I say in the medley so I've no idea what I might do if I felt like it on a new one. I'd say at least 200lbs / 90-kilos plus.

Steve you've got to be good for way more than 10kg more than me on this handle - i'd guess you've got 100kg+ there. I'll try and make it to gloucester for a training session in 2 weeks time (week off work) and i'll bring it with me then.

Sweet. Keep it clean and dry and we'll see what's what. Let me know when you're coming so I make my training schedule ok.

Thinking tuesday 18th. I'll probably do the usual i.e. squat and maybe leg press first, hit some grippers then move onto pinch and thick bar. The RT handle will have a little chalk on it but that seasoned in pretty quickly during today's session.
