Re: One Hand Bench Press Challenge
I think this could be a very useful exercise for building a big Bench actually. I haven't Benched since December when I hurt my shoulder and all I've used in the meantime is this exercise, till recently when I've been using my Triton Bar. Both exercises are kind on my shoulder and I have no problems with them. Anyway I thought I'd have a go at the Bench after my Dumbell work, and boy did the Bench feel light. I did an incredibly easy 20 reps with 90k whilst talking - probably could have got 30 reps, and then 8 easy reps with 120k. In fact with this my right arm tired miles before my left, and I think I had a good 5-8 reps left in my left arm!

Re: One Hand Bench Press Challenge
I found the one-arm floor press was particularly satisfying exercise, in that one could move big weight in a "cool" fashion - it just felt nice to do. I seem to recall hitting 70kg on an Olympic Bar for several reps just messing about - probably about half of my regular bench max at that time, though it felt easier.

I tried it on the floor, and didn't like it as much because I couldn't get as deep as I could on the bench, and also my elbow would hit the floor. So back to the bench I went.

I must have short forearms (or was just fat) because for me there wasn't much in it!

Re: One Hand Bench Press Challenge
I tried the 10RM last night and got 10x40kg with the left....and 5 with the (injured) right.
I used the dumbells at the gym which are better balanced than my plate loaded ones at home.
I got a few weird looks

Nice stuff that Grahame, and with your 15k handicap it pops you right into the lead on the 10 rep challenge. Something to chase now - cool!

Re: One Hand Bench Press Challenge
Training today:
2 x 32
2 x 42
2 x 52
1 x 62
Unfortunately 62kg is the max of my 30mm dumbbells.
If I want to go any heavier, I need to switch to a 2" dumbbell...

Well done Mark.
Actually the thicker handle may feel fine. In the old days the Bent Press was done with a thicker bar because it was more comfortable.

Re: One Hand Bench Press Challenge
L= 45kgx1, 50kgx1, 55kg x0.
R = 40kg x 1, 40kg x 1, 40kg x1
The Left is my best single so far. we don't have 52.5kg dumbell so I will have to get some reps with the 50kg first.
the injured right side is coming along nicely.
