Mark Henry aswell. 2 inches would be easy for him.
I hope to do this with 1 inch soon on video. I'll see how i feel next week and i might try it.

Yes, Jorge benched the Inch in Germany, after he put it overhead. He tried to do a second rep, but i think that the second he can“t lift it.
The past year, Jorge tried to do a bench with two pairs of 90 k d/bells ( exactly 91.3 or 91.4 k d/bells ) and he lifted it for one rep with only one arm.
The best bench of Jorge was in the summer of 2006. He benched 220 kg raw, touch and go style.
Hope this helps.

Re: One Hand Bench Press Challenge
Today i did 66kgx2 left handed. 60kg in plates loaded onto a 5kg olympic DB plus 2x0.5kg collars. I failed it with the right, so dropped back to 60kgx5. The plate loaded bell is harder because the plates are larger and it was forcing it out the side so i was losing it outwards. With a smaller DB i can keep my elbow tucked in nicely against my lat and get a better groove. I may try my solid 71kg thick dumbell next time - i think i'll get it if i can have a spotter hand me it up so i can start at the top. I have been doing all my presses so far starting at the bottom.

Re: One Hand Bench Press Challenge
Thanks!! I've been enjoying this lift as i can push it a bit more than i can with barbell bench because i can always bail out if necessary - as mentioned in my log i train alone and usually early in the morning when there is no one else in the gym so don't have a spotter. I'll be satisfied to get the inch pressed at your comp.

Re: One Hand Bench Press Challenge
I find it creats some great pressing strength for the normal bench. On the small amount of times I've tried the Barbell Bench Press since, the bar has felt soooo light. 100k feels like nothing, and I'll usually pump out an easy 20 reps after my one hand work.

Would you suggest doing one arm benches before barbell bench for a change? I figure nearer the time - if i do decide to compete at your comp - i'll drop the barbell bench altogether and work up to heavy singles/double one arm.

Re: One Hand Bench Press Challenge
Sam,
Right now I only really do the one hand version, due to my right shoulder. But this is getting better now, hence the play with the Bench after on friday.
For yourself, do the most important stuff first.

The fit ball may be a good way to get the poundage on this exercise up as balance seems to be more of an issue than strength. Myself and Elton gave this exercise a proper go last night during a bench session and decided it was a lot easier pressing 2 dumbells than one due to the balance and the weight wanting to pull you off the bench.

Cool.
By the way I got 4 Milo mags for my birthday present, and thought they were great. I have every one up to about 2005, but stopped getting them as I was short of cash. One day I'll get the back issues I need.
